According to the Minister of Tourism Francisco Javier García, Puerto Plata is the fastest growing tourist destination over the last year in the country.

Because there are also beautiful beaches, clear blue water for water sports and good and affordable dining facilities.
Most tourists visiting the country via the airport of Puerto Plata, stay in luxury hotels in Playa Dorada.
Sosúa has far less benefit from it.
Sosúa urgently needs a major makeover.
The desolate street Pedro Clisante with half demolished Rumba Bar and Latin Bar are uninviting.
